CURRICULUM
The Fundamental Sail Course will be structured as follows:
1. Online Coursework – The Online Coursework includes documents and videos that must be reviewed prior to Onboard Lessons.
2. Onboard Lessons – Students will attend two, 4-hour Onboard Sessions. Students receive hands-on training and will learn the fundamentals of safe boating.
3. Docking Session – Members and Associate Members only, will attend one, two-hour docking session. Instructions to register for your session are provided at the end of the Syllabus.
4. Virtual Seminar – Members and Associate Members only, will attend one, 3-hour Virtual Seminar via video conference. Instructors will review important information and answer questions about the Study Guide. Instructions to register for your session are provided at the end of the Syllabus.
5. Online Exam – Members and Associate Members are required to complete and pass the Online Exam to gain access to their yacht. The passing score is 80% and students will have 4 attempts.
Pinnacle Yachts will provide all training materials required. Each lesson is taught by an experienced USCG Licensed Captain.
The entire course is required for Members and Associate Members. Lessons occur on a yacht comparable to the one Members will use during the season.
Members will be allowed to bring one guest with them to the Onboard Sessions for training. If the Member has an Associate Member, the Associate Member must attend lessons with the Member as their guest.
Four students and one Instructor will be allowed on the boat during lessons.
DOCKING SESSION AND VIRTUAL SEMINAR REGISTRATION
IMPORTANT: Only Members and Associate Members should attend the Docking Session and Virtual Seminar. BOTH the Member and Associate Member must log-in to their own personal account and select one Docking Session and one Virtual Seminar. The Member and Associate Member must register for these sessions individually.
The Docking Sessions and Virtual Seminar are required for Members and Associate Members to complete training and gain access to their yacht.
Instructions to register for Docking Session and Virtual Seminar are provided below.
1. After registering for/being registered for your desired Fundamental Course go to ‘Dashboard’
2. Go to ‘Enrolled Courses’
3. Find your ‘Docking Sessions’ course and click ‘Choose Session’ on the bottom-right corner
4. Select one available session by clicking ‘Choose’ to the right of your selection
6. After selecting one session click ‘Enroll’ at the bottom right of the screen
7. Repeat this process exactly, but for the ‘Virtual Seminar’ course
8. Verify you are registered for one Docking Session and one Virtual Seminar session
Re-scheduling Your Docking Session or Virtual Seminar
You may change your Docking Session or Virtual Seminar session on your own by following the steps below at no charge. Last minute changes are not permitted, any schedule changes must be made no later than 48 hours before the session start.
1. Go to ‘Dashboard’
2. Go to ‘Enrolled Courses’
3. Click ‘Virtual Seminar’/’Docking Sessions’
4. Click ‘Content’ at the top of the page
5. Select ‘Change’ next to the session you would like to reschedule
6. Select your new session - you may only enroll in one session
7. After selecting your new session click ‘Save’ on the bottom right of the screen
Certificate
By completing this learning path, you will attain the certificate "Fundamental Sailing Course"
Should a registered Student cancel participation, 50% of the course fee will be refunded. Should Pinnacle cancel the entire course, 100% of the course fee will be refunded. Should Pinnacle cancel any part of the course because of excessive weather, Pinnacle and the Student will cooperate to reschedule accordingly.
